MPH Admission and Graduation Requirements

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for admission, an applicant must meet the AUA General Admission Requirements and the MPH Program Specific Requirements.

Applicants are expected to:

  • Be graduates of a school of medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine or hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing, or a bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural or social sciences, or related fields, and preferably have two years of practical experience in healthcare administration or public health service.
  • English proficiency: The program accepts standardized tests TOEFL iBT (target score of 79) and IELTS Academic (target score of 6.5). In case applicants are not able to take any of the tests, they can take the AUA Standardized Internal Assessment Exam. An applicant scoring below 68 on TOEFL or 5.5 or below on IELTS will automatically be denied.
  • Math proficiency: The program accepts GRE or GMAT tests (target score 150 and above on the quantitative section). In case applicants are not able to take these tests, they can take the AUA Internal Graduate Standardized Test (GST).
  • After reviewing the application files, the Program Admission Committee will interview all eligible applicants to make a final recommendation. Work experience and publication record will make the applicants more attractive. The applicants who are able to take the required exams will be given a preference. Those who choose the option of internal assessment, if admitted, will automatically be given conditional admission.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The MPH program consists of a minimum of 60 credits in required and elective coursework as specified by the program including the university-wide requirement of a course in environmental sciences. In rare cases, a Certificate in Public Health can be awarded after satisfactory completion of the first year curriculum (Semester 1 and 2) and the approval of the Dean for those unable to complete the two-year program.  In addition to completing the required curriculum, students must also fulfill all university requirements, including a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.  Only electives and courses specifically designated can be taken on a Pass/No Pass basis.
